APLA has three membership types,

• a yearly individual membership,
• a lifetime individual membership, and
• a youth membership.

Calendar Year Individual Membership

Cost $70.00 per calendar year.

Membership expires January 1, of the new year.

Lifetime Individual Membership

Cost $750.00

Membership lasts the life of the Member.

You must be a member to run your dog in APLA Hunt Tests.



The handler of your dog must be a member to run in APLA Hunt Tests.

APLA's Purpose and Objectives are as follows:

Conduct approved and licensed pure-bred Pointing Labrador Retriever (“PLR”) hunt tests by and among the members.

Advance the interests of APLA through PLR, breeding, education, training, performance, and competition.

Promote sharing of information and training of the PLR through interaction with APLA and its members.

Promote youth education through the training of the PLR and scholarship through interaction with APLA and its Members.

Accumulate data and where possible promote studies which may help understand the genetic basis for the tendency of some pure-bred Labrador Retrievers to point game.

Make available membership to individuals without discrimination as to sex, race color, disability, or religion.

Members are Required Under the Bylaws to:

Treat each member with dignity and respect and without discrimination as to sex, race, color, disability, or religion.

Follow the bylaws and APLA rules and regulations enacted by the Board, with the highest levels of integrity.

Present and represent APLA in a positive, constructive manner.



Respect the real and personal property of others at APLA events.



Be accountable for APLA property in their possession

You do not need a Pointing Labrador Retriever to Join. However, you will need a purebred Labrador Retriever to run a hunt test. Purebreds are those recognized by the Labrador Retriever Club and do not include dilute factored Labrador Retrievers.

Yes, APLA is associated with the United Kennel Club.

Your dog must be registered with the United Kennel Club (UKC) in order to run in APLA Hunt Tests.
