UKC/AKC Definitions

This application can be completed on the UKC website.

APLA HIGHLY RECOMMENDS THAT YOU COMPLETE AND SUBMIT THE UKC SINGLE REGISTRATION APPLICATION ONLINE THROUGH THE UKC WEBSITE ONLINE AND PAY FOR THE EXPEDITED PROCESSING FEE. IF YOU SEND BY MAIL OR COMMERCIAL CARRIER, THERE MAY BE SIGNIFICANT DELAYS.

The instructions for this type of application are as follows:

Before you access the online UKC SINGLE REGISTRATION APPLICATION, you will need to upload the following to your computer.

YOUR DOG'S AKC REGISTRATION CERTIFICATE in a .pdf or .jpeg file.

A COPY OF YOUR DOG'S AKC PEDIGREE.

(It can be obtained from the AKC for a fee) or (copies of the puppy's Dam and Sire AKC pedigrees which you should be able to obtain from your breeder for free). These copies should be in .pdf or .jpeg file format.

THREE COLOR PICTURES OF YOUR DOG.

One photo should be taken of each side (right and left) of the dog and one from the front.

The dog must be standing in all photos.

The photos must be clear enough to see all distinguishing marks the dog may have, and the tail must also be clearly visible.

Photos must be in a .pdf or .jpeg file format. [These are the guidelines].

Check and see if the Sire and Dam of your puppy have UKC REGISTRATION NUMBERS.

A UKC REGISTRATION NUMBER is not required for the Sire or Dam, but it is helpful when filling out the application.

You can do this by:

Contacting your breeder;

Looking up the Sire and Dam on the APLA Dog Database;

Looking up the Sire and Dam on the HuntSecretary.com;

Looking up the Sire and Dam on the HuntingLabPedigree.com;

If you find any UKC REGISTRATION NUMBERS for the Sire or Dam write them down next to their name on a piece of paper.

YOUR DOG'S NAME IS LIMITED TO 30 CHARACTERS.

When registering your dog's name with the UKC, you are limited to 30 characters including spaces.

If your AKC REGISTERED DOG’s name takes up more than 30 characters including spaces, you will need to abbreviate your dog’s name in the UKC SINGLE REGISTRATION APPLICATION.

For example: the AKC Name "Birchcreek Cowboy Tiger Lilly Mac" is abbreviated for the UKC to: "Birchcrk Cowboy Tigr Lilly Mac"

You will have to do the same when identifying the names of the dogs in your dog's pedigree.

 For example: the name Birchcreek and Iowapointinglabs Kodiak Cody is abbreviated to BIRCHCRK IAPNTG LBS KDK CODY.

*** Do your best to abbreviate. There is no set way to do it.

Write down these abbreviations before you access the online UKC SINGLE REGISTRATION APPLICATION.
